Board members pictured are President Gail Sparrow, front left, and Publicity Chair Brenda Smith, 3rd from left in back. At the Fayette County Commissioners' Meeting on September 19, 2009, Honor Flight Fayette was presented with a proclamation naming September 19th as Honor Flight Fayette Day. That is the day that HFF will take the 5th group of veterans to Washington D.C. to see their memorial, bringing the total of veterans taken by this group to 350.
The community is encouraged to come out on the 19th at 6:30 a.m. to wave flags and banners and give these members of the "Greatest Generation" a rousing send off from the First Methodist Church in Fayetteville next to the old courthouse.
