The Fayette County Education Foundation is selling the coupon books at the school system’s board of education office, located at 210 Stonewall Avenue in Fayetteville. These free coupon offers, along with numerous “buy one, get one” free deals and discounts from popular restaurants such as Johnny’s New York Style Pizza, La Hacienda, Sonic, La Parrilla, and many others are included.

Families can also enjoy savings on entertainment like “buy one, get one free” Atlanta Braves game tickets and free general admission to Zoo Atlanta with the purchase of a ticket. There are many discounts on services such as car rentals, dry cleaning and hair care.

Proceeds from coupon book sales benefit the Fayette County Education Foundation, which provides teacher mini-grants to fund innovative classroom projects that enhance learning. The foundation has given nearly $174,000 to Fayette’s public classroom teachers during its seven-year history.

These are tough financial times for everyone. The foundation wants to help the community save money on food and services while also helping the county’s teachers get what they need to continue offering their students the best educational experiences possible.

Two Fayette County Schools Ranked Best in Nation by Newsweek Magazine

Two Fayette County high schools have earned spots on the prestigious “Top of the Class” list published by Newsweek magazine.

Starr’s Mill and McIntosh High earned rankings on the list that features the top 1,500 public high schools in the nation. Schools making the list are among the top six percent of all public high schools in the U.S.

Both schools have been included on previous “Top of the Class” lists. Starr’s Mill made the list in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008. McIntosh has made the list every year since 2006.

Georgia’s U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson recognized this achievement in a congratulatory letter to Superintendent John DeCotis.

“To place among the top six percent of public schools in the United States is a testament to the dedication and hard work put forth by you and the others who made this honor possible,” Isakson stated.

Schools on the list are ranked according to the number of Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests taken by all students at the school in 2008 divided by the number of graduating seniors.
