Family Day at Nature, Undisturbed Saturday April 24th

Southern Conservation Trust, a community land trust, is hosting a Family Day on Saturday afternoon April 24th during Nature, Undisturbed, a nature photography exhibition at the Dogwood Gallery in Tyrone.

The fun starts at 3 p.m. with a live Birds of Prey program with Dale Arrowood and his Winged Ambassadors.  Featured raptors include a vulture, falcon, several owls and two hawks.  Visitors can have their photo taken with a rare eagle owl from Russia, the world’s largest owl.   Dale’s trained birds have either been raised in captivity or rehabilitated from injuries and cannot survive in the wild.  This is a wonderful opportunity to see these magnificent birds up close.

Then enjoy our local greenspace from a bird’s perspective with a free tethered ride on a hot air balloon provided by RE/MAX of Georgia.  Balloon rides begin at 5pm, weather permitting, and riders must be over 6 years of age.

Visitors will also enjoy hot dogs, face painting and nature crafts.

Nature, Undisturbed is a two week nature photography exhibition at the Dogwood Gallery kicking off April 16th that celebrates the glory of wildlife and our natural landscapes.  Sixty photographs were chosen out of 400 entries from 10 states. 

Other events during the Exhibition include a presentation on Saturday evening April 17th.  by Susan Todd-Raque about collecting photography with a wine and cheese tasting. Proceeds from the sale of photographs will help maintain the Trust’s three public nature preserves - Sams Lake Sanctuary south of Fayetteville, and Line Creek and Flat Creek Nature Areas in Peachtree City.

Nature Photography Exhibition Moves to PTC Library

Prize-winning photographs from Southern Conservation Trust’s inaugural nature photography exhibition will be on display at the Peachtree City Library through July 15th.

Nature, Undisturbed 2009 took place in early May 2009 at the Dogwood Gallery in Tyrone. Fifty stunning images, selected from 185 entries, showcased the area’s natural beauty and highlighted the importance of land conservation. Call for entries for Nature Undisturbed 2010 will be announced in October 2009.

Southern Conservation Trust is a non-profit conservation organization based in Fayette County. The Trust protects more than 1300 acres of farmland, forest and environmentally sensitive land in the Southern Crescent.

An African Safari and More At Nature, Undisturbed Photo Show

Join nature lovers and photography enthusiasts this weekend at Nature, Undisturbed, Southern Conservation Trust’s Nature Photography Exhibition at the Dogwood Gallery in Tyrone. The show highlights the importance of protecting our region’s natural beauty.

Friday’s Wine & Cheese Reception will also feature pairings with Terrapin Craft Beers. Saturday’s Reception includes a presentation by Susan Todd-Raque a noted art consultant who will speak on collecting photography, and the presentation of the People’s Choice Award. Toms Evens will lead you on a photographic African Safari on Sunday May 3rd at 2pm.

Nature, Undisturbed will be a great opportunity to purchase affordable art for your home or business. All donations and a percentage of sales will benefit local land conservation and help maintain the public nature preserves managed by Southern Conservation Trust - Sams Lake Sanctuary south of Fayetteville, and Line Creek and Flat Creek Nature Areas in Peachtree City.
